Paper with tear damage can be sensitively restored whether it has been ripped into pieces or has suffered from a small split.
Our studio regularly receives paper that has broken fibres due to an accident, old age or environmental issue.
We also respond to disasters such as floods and fires, where paper artworks and documents may be suffering from a wide variety of issues along with devastating rips.

We are happy to offer advice and treatment plans on even the most unusual works on paper, whether they are highly valuable or sentimental.
How is torn paper restored?
Our paper conservation team can professionally bring fibres back together and further stabilise the artwork or document on acid-free tissue.
If required, small amounts of colour can be retouched to lessen any visual impact caused by the prior damage.
The results following this type of restoration often amaze our clients, returning the artwork back to its original state and importantly stabilising it for safe preservation.
Protective Framing
Our specialist technicians offer conservation-appropriate framing options to protect your artwork following restoration.
Prints can be mounted safely away from the glass in acid-free surroundings to prevent deterioration.
To protect the ink or colour, we suggest that UV protective glass is considered to prevent fading. Our team offers museum view glass that both protects and has a less reflective quality for a clear display.
