We are happy to consider even the most unusual items in our studio, alongside historic chairs, tables, cabinets and traditional household pieces. Previous work includes the care of unique music boxes, games tables and rocking horses.
Loose joints
Loose joints can cause long term damage and eventually can cause the furniture to fall apart.
Our team is on hand to repair the issue to ensure the stability of the piece, whether it’s a shaky chair leg, a wobbly drawer front or a drooping hinge. Following a full assessment, we can create a treatment plan to ensure the restoration is completed with future use and preservation in mind.
Missing parts
Antique furniture can easily lose details through accidental damage, frequent use and household disasters such as fires or floods.
Our furniture restorers can recreate missing parts, in the style and colour of the existing wood to ensure an excellent finish. We can carve decorative details by hand, replace desk leather, retouch lost paintwork and gold leaf, recreate missing pieces of marquetry and even craft missing feet.
Stains and bespoke finishes
Water marks, cup rings and overall discolouration can be restored by assessing the finish and carefully replacing surfaces to reduce and in many cases eliminate staining. The finish can be matched to the original in tone and shine to ensure visual cohesion.
Caning and upholstery
The furniture repairs team work in conjunction with our textile conservators for repairs to upholstery as well as traditionally woven areas.
Upholstery can either be conserved to retain original details or replaced with a new textile of your choice. Historic weaving such as rattan is repaired by hand using age-old techniques.
Collection and delivery
We have an expert logistics team ready to collect and deliver back your piece of furniture from your home to our studio.
They are fully insured and will ensure it arrives safely with no further damage.
