Our team has specialist experience in the restoration of Tang Dynasty tomb figures or ornamental sculptures which have lost limbs or have a breakage to the neck. 

Broken terracotta

It is important to keep all fragments following a breakage, this allows our team to fully restore an item with as much historic and artistic integrity as possible. When pieces are missing, our ceramics conservator can recreate any missing areas to bring back stability. We can also include metal pins to strengthen weak areas prone to continued damage. 

As well as restoring breakages, our ceramics conservator can also provide the following: 

• Removal of glues, staples and tape from an amateur or historic repairs
• Revival of colour to a historically appropriate standard
• New cases and stands for safe display

Ceramic restoration aims for as much of a seamless result where possible, including the use of conservation-safe adhesives that will not fail or yellow with age.
