Our ceramic repair conservators work with hard and soft-paste porcelain, bone china, stoneware, terracotta, earthenware and glass to create invisible repairs.

We use specialist materials compatible with the delicate object to achieve a lasting solution. The original material can be preserved by stabilising cracks, aligning broken pieces and remoulding missing areas. The final step of retouching by hand painting or airbrushing will sympathetically match the original materials and decoration.

We can even dismantle, re-bond and replace a previous discoloured or poor ceramic repair.

If you have a broken item – take a look at our information on what to do in the first instance.

Ceramic Restoration

How much will my object restoration cost?

  1. I've smashed my ornament but I don't have all the pieces, can it still be mended?

Yes, our ceramic conservators will replace which pieces they can and will model any missing pieces and details to match.

  2. I have broken parts of my dinner service, can it be repaired and used again?

Yes, we can certainly repair the dinner service items, however, they should only be used for decorative purposes.

  3. How should I package my damaged ceramic?

Wrap each piece in clean bubble wrap, plastic bags or cling film. Avoid using sticky tape to piece the parts back together. If there are multiple shards they can be bagged together in a suitable plastic or paper bag. Then the pieces can be placed in a box ready to go to the restorer.
