I own a pencil and watercolour study by a noted WWII War Artist, the paper on which it was painted having suffered some discolouration over the years. After submitting a simple description of the work and a good digital image, Fine Art Restoration supplied a fair estimate for restoring the picture and for collecting and returning the item.

The team also gave me another quote for remounting the picture using acid- free board and for providing ultra violet protective glass. I received progress reports throughout the process. The work was returned to me looking fresh and clean and with the delicate pencil lines and watercolour areas intact. There were no ‘extras’, or surprise additions to the final bill. I would gladly recommend this highly professional and friendly company to anyone thinking of having their treasured art work restored.

Many thanks for the beautiful restoration of my painting.

It has been a real pleasure dealing with you all and I am beyond delighted with my beautifully restored picture.  Please thank everyone involved from me, their work is truly amazing and I would never hesitate to recommend your services or use you again.

When moving home this summer we decided to have our antique paintings restored. The Fine Art Restoration Company were selected by us and the restoration was very professional. We were delighted with the final results which involved cleaning of several centuries of grime and glaze on the paintings and restoration of the frames. We can recommend their service to potential customers with absolute confidence.

I contacted Fine Art Restoration when an acrylic painting was damaged in a house move. I received a reasonable quote quickly, they collected and delivered the painting efficiently, and the damage repair was excellent. I could not have asked for more!

You don’t really own old family paintings, you are merely a custodian, so having them restored can be a nerve-racking experience. That why I went with an expert team I could trust to restore a painting that is very dear to my heart. The restoration is superb and my family will continue to enjoy the results for generations to come.

Excellent friendly and expert service. I have sent a number of items to Fine Art Restoration Co. and the work has been beautifully executed to my complete satisfaction

I really appreciate the restoration and framing and framing you did for me. The result is very pleasing and I am sure that it will look terrific in the Royal Dragoon Guards Museum in York. My wife, who is the granddaughter of John, is also delighted.

The service from the Fine Art Restoration Company was impressive from the first contact. An immediate response from my first website enquiry, a fast efficient estimate and prompt collection.

The work was done in the time suggested, one ‘blip’ was dealt with immediately and the result is one happy customer. I am not a fine art expert, know nothing about the skills but to the untrained eye it is a job well done.

Thank you so much for cleaning and restoring my painting. Also your assistance in reframing it. The collection and return service was swift and efficient. I found your personal attention to the project most helpful. The painting is now bright and colourful and rehung on the lounge wall. i am pleased to recommend your services.

We had purchased a very, very distressed oil painting from an auction. The canvas had very bad damage across the whole of the painting.

I made an initial approach for an estimate, fearing the worst. Back came my estimate which was very competitive. We went ahead with the restoration, everything regarding collection was arranged by Chris.

When the picture was duly returned restored, the results were spectacular. The picture was back to its former glory, the colours were restored and now the picture is good enough for another 200 years. Cannot recommend their services highly enough. This was our first venture into picture restoration and thanks to the fantastic results that were achieved by Fine Art Restoration Company, it will not be the last. A big thank you.

I had a landscape in oil, by Midlands artist C W Kidger. It had been a gift from my grandmother when I was born in 1951 and hence was of great sentimental value, as well as being a fine painting. Over the years and through numerous house moves it had faded and been bashed about a bit: the paint had cracked badly in places, and I did not expect it to be recoverable. Before consigning it to the bin I thought I’d have a look at what was available on the internet, and found Fine Art Restoration of Carlisle. I made contact and was treated with great courtesy. I felt I was talking to someone who really knew what they were about. I sent a digital image of the picture and received encouraging feedback by return.

They organised collection of the painting, sent a progress report, and within a few weeks returned a work that seems as good as new, colour restored and cracks no longer visible. The picture now hangs in our collection and stands up well alongside contemporary works. We were delighted with Fine Art Restoration Company’s service, and felt that the cost was very reasonable.

The restored map was delivered last evening and we want to let you know what a fine job you have done.  A superb outcome.  We couldn’t stop admiring it; the colours and pictures fresh and clear and the whole map looking age perfect.  Amazing result.

I am very impressed with the extremely efficient service from the Fine Art Restoration Co in Carlisle. Chris Bull instilled enough confidence in me with his good advice to send one quite large and valuable old oil painting and a smaller one from Crete, Greece to be cleaned, TLC – ed and revarnished and returned to the shippers who delivered it to me last week. Chris and his colleagues are all very efficient, helpful and I will be using them again to recondition other old oil paintings we have to bring out the best in them for their next 150 years.

I highly recommend this company whos prices are very reasonable for the work undertaken.

We had a damaged oil painting with a rip in the canvas. The Fine Art Restoration Company collected the painting, restored it and returned it, within the promised time window. The repair was virtually invisible and the painting is now back on the wall. Overall, a very good service and reasonably priced.

My oil painting on canvas, which was very precious to me, was badly kicked in.  I  was distraught because I did not believe it was repairable. I sent it to Fine Art Restoration Co. to have it repaired and after a few weeks, it was sent back to me in perfect condition.  The charge for doing this work was very reasonable. Well done Fine Art Restoration Co.

I recently bought at auction a very discoloured (orange would describe it!) unframed oil painting. Despite its condition, I could just about make out that underneath the old varnish and grime there was the potential for a very nice painting, so duly took it along to Chris with an old frame which I hoped he would be able to cut down to fit. This is the fourth painting I have entrusted to Chris, and again I was not disappointed.

The result is absolutely stunning, the wonderful colours and detail in the painting fully revealed again, the frame forming a perfect partnership. As an added bonus the insight into the style of the painting I have received from Chris is really instructive. I will have no hesitation in taking any new finds to Chris, and already have an old watercolour waiting for his attention.

I just wanted to compliment you on the restoration you performed on my two mid 19th Century oil paintings by W Muller. The dramatic improvement brought about by the cleaning and re-varnishing together with the stabilisation and re-gilding of the plaster frames was extraordinary.

The quotation, collection and return were all accomplished professionally. It was a pleasure using your company.

The restoration was done carefully and sympathetically so as not to compromise the original integrity and age of the painting. The old frame was also given much-needed attention to the same high standard. The company arranged collection and return of the picture which made the process very easy for me. I would heartily recommend Fine Art Restoration Company.

Fine Art Restoration restored for me last year an old oil painting of HMS Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar and what went to them as quite frankly, a bit of a wreck, came back as a beautiful picture that now hangs on my wall.

Very pleased with the work carried out. The picture was transformed, quite literally brought back to life! The team were friendly and kept me informed throughout the process, which was very reassuring. Thank you!

We had our large Flemish landscape cleaned by Chris and his team. We are extremely pleased with the result that now hangs on the largest wall in our living room.

We were delighted with the service (door to door, very careful removal and delivery) and the quality of the restoration. You cannot see the repairs which were pretty extensive! I would strongly recommend Fine Art Restoration Co.
