DISASTER RECOVERY

Timing is crucial when it comes to fire, water or structural damage. We can arrange to visit you on-site as soon as possible to assess the situation, equipped with the necessary safety equipment and resources to begin the recovery process.

Our expert team will create an inventory and pack and transport the damaged contents or work on-site, depending on the scale and nature of the problem.

We know this can be a difficult time, so we work hard to reduce the stress of having to organise the recovery yourself – offering a clear timeline, ongoing updates and reassurance that normality will be restored as soon as possible.

ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE: WATER AND FIRE

Fire and water damage are common problems that require expert handling. Our first step is to visit the site as soon as it’s safe and assess the damage. We then produce a detailed conservation report with photographs and a clear quotation.

Fire damaged paintings often suffer from severe soot and ash damage in the paint layer, as well as blistering, flaking, cracking and warping of the stretcher bars which can lead to tears and distortions.

Water damaged paintings are vulnerable to mould growth, staining and canvas shrinkage, which can lead to blanching and cracked or flaking paint. As with fire damage, the misshapen stretcher bars can also cause tears and distortion.

We have extensive experience in handing fire and water damaged artworks, using the most advanced conservation methods to restore them to their former glory.
